What are the various decoration methods and which does LogoDogz Printz offer?
There are several techniques used to decorate garments, including screen printing (aka silk screening), direct to garment printing, and iron on transfers.
LogoDogz Printz is a true screen printer using state of the art equipment and traditional screen printing techniques that have been used for decades. We use only the finest plastosol screen printing inks to ensure a durable and long lasting finish that will outlast the garment.
I have noticed that many on-line printers are using “Direct to Garment” printing. What is that and how does it differ from traditional screen printing?
Direct to garment printing is a relatively new technique that is all the rage in the industry over the last couple of years. This technique has become popular due to the low cost of the equipment and the fact that low quantities can be run with relative ease. These facts have made it a great option for hobbyist and startups, however the quality of the finished product cannot compare to custom screen printing.
This method basically uses a modified ink jet printer and applies a special dye directly to the garment. The dyes used in the ink tend to be much duller and they fade much quicker than traditional screen printing. Direct to garment printing may provide an acceptable option if you have photographic artwork and are in need of just a few shirts, however, you want to use traditional screen printing for those jobs where you want vibrant colors and a print that will outlast the garment.
As many of our competitors use this technique, make sure you ask what printing technique is used if the quality and durability is important to you. The equipment for direct to garment printing and iron on transfers can be purchased for under $10,000 compared to over $200,000 for high quality, production oriented, screen printing equipment.
I have noticed many on-line printers using “Iron on Transfer” printing. What is that and how does it differ from traditional screen printing?
Iron on transfers is the process where your artwork is imaged on special paper fed through a digital printer and then heat applied onto the garment. This process has almost been entirely replaced by direct to garment ink jet printers, however this process is still widely used by many on-line printers offering 1 piece minimums. The problems with this process, like direct to garment printing, is that the colors are muted and the image deteriorates after just one or two washings.
How can you be so inexpensive?
It is really quite simple. We are located 3.5 miles from one of the largest t-shirt distributors in the southeast. We pick up goods there everyday so we don’t have to keep inventory on hand to fulfill our orders. We own our own building, do all our printing in-house, and have lots of excess capacity. All of these factors explain how we can offer exceptionally low screen printing prices.
Can you print individual names and/or numbers on my items?
Yes, you can customize your items with screen printed names and numbers. We actually screen print them using the traditional screen printing processes - we don't use heat transfers which make the garment "hard".
Individual names can be printed in one color for an additional $4.50 per item. If you want individual numbers we can print them in one or two colors using the Block format with number sizes of 4", 6", or 8". The price for one color numbers is $2.50 per unit and the price for two color numbers is $3.50 per unit. We only print one or two digit numbers.
Please call us at 888-827-8866 to place your order when you require names and/or numbers.
Can I mix and match different styles and garment colors within my order?
Absolutely, as long as the image being printed and the ink colors being used are the same for all the items within your order you can mix and match as much as you like. If the design is the same but you need to change ink colors there will be a $10 charge per ink color being changed. You will need to communicate this request via email and you will be changed separately for this request.
I don’t need 24 shirts – can I order less?
Yes ... you can order as few as 6 shirts, however, orders less than 24 units using the same design are limited to a maximum of 5 colors.
I need help with my artwork – can you help us?
Absolutely, at LogoDogz Printz, we can help you with basic edits and layouts and that type of work is included in the prices. However, if you require full featured, created from scratch artwork, just give us a call and we will see what we can do to create that perfect design for you. Our typical hourly rate is just $25 an hour for full featured, created from scratch concept artwork designed by one of our four in-house artists.
